Port Phillip Bay surveys - Feb 2020

For the 11th year a Reef Life Survey team has gone to re-survey long-term monitoring sites in the Port Phillip Bay Heads and around the bay. The team consists of Dan Ierodiaconou, Paul Tinkler and Sam Wines and Toni Cooper.

The findings across the 46 surveys recorded, 50 species of fish, 24 cryptic fish species and 50 species of mobile macroinvertebrates. The team recorded seeing more mobile macroinvertebrates this year than in the last 5 years.

The surveys conducted and the data collected by the RLS team form part of the “Beneath the Bay” project which is funded by the Port Phillip Bay Fund. To date, the project has resulted in the collection of data from 147 surveys across 56 sites.
